Notice is hereby given that the Lima Township Board of Trustees adopted an amendment of the Lima Township Zoning Ordinance on October 13, 2025.
The amendment is to add Section 5.58 – Principal-Use (Large) Energy Facility. The new ordinance sections includes definitions, regulations and standards for large scale Principal-Use Energy Facilities, including Solar Energy Systems (SES), Wind Energy Systems (WES), and Energy Storage Systems (ESS), which are intended to address concerns related to public health and community character. The proposed ordinance language includes dimensional standards, design standards, and screening requirements where necessary.
The Lima Township Planning Commission held a public hearing on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., in accordance with the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended, and received public feedback on the draft ordinance language.
The ordinance takes effect 7 days after the publication date of this notice of adoption.
