About the Township Board of Trustees

Lima Township is a Michigan general law township and has an elected board consisting of five members:  Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer, and two Trustees.  These five individuals are the local legislators and vote on issues of importance to the Township. The Board may also hire other personnel as required to efficiently operate the township.

State of Michigan law mandates three township functions: property assessment, tax collection, and election administration. In accordance with their community’s wants and needs, townships can perform many other functions, such as planning and zoning, public safety, and parks and recreation. Read more about township forms of government at Michigan Townships Association.
