The Cemetery Sexton maintains and manages three of our four cemeteries in town. The Sexton is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the cemeteries.
Established in 2020, Chelsea Area Construction Agency serves as the building department for the City of Chelsea and the Townships of Dexter, Lima, Lyndon and Sylvan.
The Chelsea Area Fire Authority provides services to the City of Chelsea and the Townships of Lima, Lyndon, Sylvan and a portion of Dexter Township.
The Chelsea District Library serves residents of the City of Chelsea, Lyndon and Sylvan Townships, and the portions of Lima and Dexter Townships within the Chelsea School District.

Founded in 1965, the Huron River Watershed Council is a nonprofit coalition of residents, businesses, and local governments that protects and restores the river for healthy and vibrant communities.
The Planning Commission is an appointed body that reviews proposed development projects and makes recommendations to the Township Board of Trustees.
The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) supports local planning through its technical, data, and intergovernmental resources. The work SEMCOG does improves the quality of the region’s water, makes the transportation system safer and more efficient, revitalizes communities, and spurs economic development.
The Board of Review receives the assessment roll as prepared by the Assessor and reviews it to ensure it is complete, accurate, and uniform.
The WAVE Bus provides rides for all living and traveling in greater Western Washtenaw to the rest of the county. They offer several transportation programs including door-to-door service and fixed routes throughout Chelsea, Dexter and Ann Arbor.
The Washtenaw County Consortium for Solid Waste Management was established in 1990 to foster communication and collaboration between local governments and public agencies on recycling and solid waste issues.
The Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority is a non-profit organization servicing Chelsea and the surrounding townships of Dexter, Lima, Lyndon, Manchester and Bridgewater. WWRA works to find alternative ways to handle waste and promote recycling. They operate a main facility in Chelsea as well as 8 drop off bins in member communities.
This group, formerly known as CAPT/DART (Chelsea Area Planning Team/Dexter Area Regional Team), is made up of representatives from all Western Washtenaw municipalities. They use one meeting per quarter to focus on housing, one meeting per quarter to target transportation, and the other meetings to discuss different regional issues and/or host county updates from commissioners and administration.
The Zoning Board of Appeals is responsible for reviewing and deciding on certain matters related to zoning regulations and land use within the township.
